A dear friend of mine used to say...
"there are friends of the heart, and friends of the road."
Not that either one is more or less significant in your life.
But some people come in for only a season.
And others stay in your life for the long haul.
And that is truly precious. Especially as you get older.
Those friends who stay with you throughout all your "seasons."
I had the lovely pleasure of reuniting with some of those friends of the heart this weekend. We had a reunion of our 8 college roommates from James Madison, at Courtney's house, outside of DC.
It was such therapy to my soul to reunite with these girls who know me so well. To hear about where we all have been in the last year or so, and where we're hoping to go. We are a super diverse group of women, and so our conversations included a range of pretty much every topic known to humankind. :)
We laughed, we cried, we sat on the porch in the mornings drinking coffee and reminiscing. Sharing the lighthearted and the deep about our marriages, our careers, our children, our fears and hurts, our hopes and dreams... we did "Insanity" (a CRAZY hard workout that Kathy has been faithfully doing for the past 40 days---way to GO!!!), we did yoga, we (well, I) slept in late, ate amazing food, did THE lemon facial, and went to dinner at an amazing restaurant. It was really perfect...
What a treasure to be known and loved for who you ARE. All your kinks and hang ups. It was so beautiful as well to be able to reflect on things that were broken in our lives that are now healed, things that are in the process of healing, things that have changed in us ----maybe for the good, maybe for the bad. But in all of it...to be LOVED. That is sweet.
And I'm *hoping* the photographers who were there will be able to supplement my pictures---as you can tell, I was laughing and crying way too much to take many pictures!! HA!
MUCH LOVE Barnhouse girls!!!!
