We finally took our first camping trip with Kallen last weekend. We brought a LOT more stuff, and spent a LOT more money on supplies than we had planned, but all in all a really fun trip and for sure a learning experience!!! We went back roads to the hill country (Garner State Park) which was super fun but we were definitely in the car for 6 hrs. Kallen was a good lil sport! :)
We had to stop at Buc-ees to refuel. I wasn't fast enough to get a picture of one of their billboards...my personal favorite is "you think my overbite is sexy..." of course referring to the beaver.
Brian got Kallen a crazy little cammo super warm pair of PJ's, which ended up saving us because the first night was in the 30's!!! And we all slept in ONE tent! :) Yes, crazy times for the Smith family...
The days were gorgeous, and in the 70's and we did some amazing hikes and just relaxed outside and let Kallen run around and eat rocks, and play with sticks, and chew on footballs and dirt. It was wonderful...
We went with our friends Katie and Nathan, who are awesome, and are camping pro's who showed us some of the ropes. We made "real" breakfasts, like breakfast tacos, and pancakes, and on Brian and I's "dinner night" we made a pork tenderloin with tons of veggies, wrapped in foil with olive oil, on the fire. It was amazing. Best part for sure was just being out in nature...seeing a million stars, smelling fresh air, being surrounded by trees---lovely :)
I love the hill country...
Sleepy morning bear...
We made a stop at Neal's on our way home for lunch.
I think spring is here!!!...
